As daunting as it can be to sign up for some of us, in the 12 years I have been doing CrossFit I am yet to meet someone who regretted the decision to sign up.
I am here to give you food for thought and change your perspective on it.
- Ask yourself if you have ever done a park run?
- Ask yourself have you ever been part of a sports team and taken part in a competitive game?
- Have you ever taken part in a mini triathlon, or a marathon?
Could the reason you signed up for those events was because you wanted to test your capabilities? A new challenge? Something fun? Get a metric, like how fast or your split times?
Is it safe to say it is because you wanted something in return..some feedback from your fitness…
You know that doing the Parkrun for example, that you’re not coming first nor are you aiming too. Your doing it for your own benefit, no one elses. There are no expectations unless you’re in that elite running club, and the vasy majority aren’t. They too are there for thier own benefit, a test, a bit of fun and just to meet new people.
…and that is all The CrossFit Open is… Irrespective of your time, the weights or the movements, it is a test of all the fitness you have or haven’t been doing.
One of the best things about it is, like all those other fitness tests mentioned above, it is done alongside like minded indivuals sharing the same emotion of the workout.
